Billie Joe Brown

Billie Joe Brown

Billie Joe Brown, known as BJ or Joe Brown, passed away peacefully of natural causes in a hospital in Marble Falls, just three weeks shy of his 101st birthday. Born on July 15, 1924, in Floydada, Texas, Joe lived a long, full life defined by his work, dedication and great sense of humor.

In 1945, Joe honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the final year of World War II. After his service, he pursued higher education at Texas Tech University, where he earned a degree in petroleum engineering – laying a foundation for a successful and respected career in the oil and gas industry.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Melba Welch, and together they raised three daughters: Shelly Ford, Alyson Foland and Leslie Brown. His wife of 64 years preceded him in death in 2008.

He was a proud grandfather to Carl Foland, Ashley Quinones, and Lacey Payne and a great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.

Joe’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cared for. His common sense opinions and fun sense of humor will be dearly missed.

A private family memorial will be held in his honor.

Arrangements by Clements- Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls.
