Robert 'Bob' Wayne White

Robert was born on Aug. 30, 1942, in Dallas, to Bob and June White. He fondly remembered his days growing up in Freeport, where he graduated high school. His unwavering dedication to his country led him to serve in the U.S. Army for three years, a chapter of his life he held dear. After his military service, Robert pursued his academic dreams and earned a bachelors degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University.
For over three decades, Robert made significant strides in the mining safety industry, culminating in his retirement from the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). He then embarked on a new adventure as the founder of Safety Assessment Services, dedicating 26 years to ensuring safety and compliance in the industry he loved. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert also served 23 years with the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, showcasing his lifelong commitment to service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Jan White; their son, Stephen White; daughter, Robin Justis and her husband Lance; he was granddad to twelve cherished grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, who all carry forward his legacy of love and service.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tim White; his three brothers, Tommy, Ronnie and Richard White; and an infant granddaughter, Casey White.
Known for his easygoing spirit and kind heart, Robert was someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Those included family gatherings, watching sporting events and celebrating the holidays.
He especially loved riding around his property in his golf cart, always with his beloved pups by his side. Robert never passed up a good conversation and truly enjoyed visiting with his neighbors, always ready with a warm smile and a good story.
A man of many interests, Robert enjoyed westerns, rodeos and cooking shows. He had a deep appreciation for travel and was always excited by the chance to explore new places and create lasting memories.
Robert was a devout man of faith. His belief in God shaped the way he lived with humility, compassion, and unwavering strength. He found comfort and purpose through his church, and his bible study group.
Robert’s warmth, sense of humor, and down-to-earth nature left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
