Sally Jane Wells of Johnson City, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 1, 1937, in Johnson City, Texas, to Edgar W. Moreland and Ada Elizabeth (Summy) Moreland.

A lifelong resident of Blanco County, Sally received her education in the Johnson City school system. Following her graduation from high school, she began her career at General Telephone Co., later contributing her talents to esteemed local establishments, including Crofts Red & White Grocery, Stein Lumber Company, and Poor Boy Grocery. Sally dedicated 21 years of service to the National Park Service in Johnson City before retiring.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Dub Wells, and three brothers: George W. “Johnny” Moreland, Edgar W. “Tobe” Moreland, and Helmuth “Babe” Moreland.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Brussel and her husband Terry; her brother, Alton Ray Moreland and his wife Janie; two cherished grandchildren, Brandi (Chris) Brussel and Tyson (Jessica) Brussel; and three great-grandchildren, McKinley, Hadley, and Aubrey Brussel. Additionally, she is survived by sisters-in-law Janice Moreland and Florine Stanford, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

Sally was an active member for over 50 years of the Johnson City Women’s Civic Club and had a profound passion for gardening and canning their homegrown fruits and vegetables. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her kind spirit, and her ability to connect with everyone she met. She took great joy in engaging with customers, friends, and family throughout her life. Sally truly loved her trips to the casinos and many hours at the “one arm bandit”.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Crofts – Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. Funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, with Rev. Kebirn Rush officiating. Sally will be laid to rest at Miller Creek Cemetery alongside her late husband, Dub Wells.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Sally.

She will be greatly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
