Corilla “Kay” Ann Leifeste

Corilla 'Kay' Ann Leifeste was born on July 27, 1938, in Mason, Texas, to parents Clarence and Mildred (Bankston) Schuessler. She was preceded in death by her three children, Joe Paul Mc-Daniel, Debra Kay McDaniel Ousley, and Nancy Dawn McDaniel Fordyce, as well as her sister, Cleo Beth Cooper. Kay is also preceded in death by her former husbands, Paul 'Bud' McDaniel (1953), Larkin Schmidt (1966), and Dayton Leifeste (1978).
Kay is survived by her grandchildren: Bradley Cook (Karen), Kayla Cook, J.W. Hudson (Sophia), Amy Bonney (Josh), Larkin Fordyce ( Mandy), Katy Fordyce (Tanner), Colby Ousley, and Casey Ousley. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Abygail Cook, Sarah Cook, Alyssa Cook, Kate Hudson, Kymber Hudson, Lilly Bonney, Jackson Fordyce, Caden Ousley, and Tristan Ousley. Additional survivors include her sister, Linda McFarland (Dan), and her sons-in-law, J.R. Ousley and Bill Fordyce.
Kay will be laid to rest next to her former husband, Larkin Schmidt, affectionately known as “Daddy,' who was a special stepfather to her three children, in Llano, Texas.
Born and raised a proud Texan, Kay enjoyed tending to her garden, searching for arrowheads in the Hill Country, traveling throughout the United States and overseas, spending time with great-grandchildren, birdwatching, the smell of lavender, a Friday night football game, treating herself to blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream, enjoying a cold beer in Cherokee, Texas, with Pat and friends, and watching the news.
She helped start Peoples Savings & Loan in 1969 and became the first female president of the Llano Chamber of Commerce in 1973. Kay also worked at Llano Regional Hospital as a Medical Clerk, Admissions Supervisor, and Radiology Clerk. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, wife, and a respected leader in the Llano community.
A visitation and funeral service took place on Monday, March 16, at Harrell Funeral Home of Llano, located at 307 E. Sandstone St., Llano, Texas 78643. Visitation was at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed at Llano City Cemetery.
