Damon passed away on Feb. 22, 2026 of a massive heart attack while on bicycle ride.

He attended Blanco ISD for 12 years, graduating in 1979 from Blanco High School. While in high school, Damon worked with his father at Barker Motor Co., which is now Old 300 BBQ.

Damon was an adventurer. After graduation, he spent several winters in Ruidoso, New Mexico, working at a ski lodge. Then he went to the Virgin Islands and worked at a resort. Damon settled in San Marcos, Texas and worked for Du-Mor Enterprises for several years. He then moved to Reno, Nevada, where he fell in love with the mountains. He was employed with Reno Regency Apartments as maintenance supervisor.

Damon was an excellent water skier, snow skier and pilot. He also loved hunting and fishing.

Damon was kind and sympathetic with the homeless in Reno. He bought them food, tents, and sleeping bags.

Many tenants, employees and friends where Damon lived and worked have all commented on how much he was loved by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delman Barker; grandparents, Horace and Alice Barker and Alfred and Tillie Lindemann.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Barker; sister, Sabra Barker; niece, Symbri McCarroll; aunt, Betty Woolsey; uncle, Fred Lindemann and his wife Peggy; several cousins and his pet dog Savant.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at Blanco Cemetery with Fr. Jim Harnan and Fr. Kyle Nesrsta officiating.
