Charles “Charlie” Lee Bowen
Charles “Charlie” Lee Bowen
Charlie was born April 24, 1933, in Teague, Texas. After graduating from The University of Texas, he spent his life serving others and building lasting connections within his community. In 1963, he founded Bowen’s Pharmacy in Kingsland Texas, where he worked as a pharmacist and owner for more than four decades. Charlie became a trusted and familiar presence to generations of families in Kingsland. Known for his kindness, steady character, and genuine care for people, he formed countless friendships with customers and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, Charlie enjoyed the things that brought people together. He loved spending time on the golf course and was a devoted fan of Texas Longhorns athletics. Whether watching a game with family or talking sports with friends, he was always ready to cheer on the Horns. His favorite phrase, “Hook ’Em.” was a common send-off for everyone who knew him. More than anything, Charlie loved people. His warmth, easy conversation, and welcoming spirit made anyone feel valued and at home in his presence.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Cary Bowen. He is survived by his sons, Carl Bowen and Jared Bowen; his daughter-in-law Jill, his grandchildren, Layni, Charles, and Hailey; and his great-grandchildren, Melody, Ronan, Arthur, and Cade and his beloved cat Buddy.
Charlie will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his community, and the many lives he touched throughout his long and meaningful life.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
