Billy Charles Mikeska

Billy Charles Mikeska (1933-2026), a beloved high school teacher in Mason for many years, died on February 25, 2026, in Kerrville. Billy Charles was born in Eola, Texas, to Wanda and W.F. (Bill) Mikeska on March 20, 1933. He attended school in Eden, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1950. Billy Charles attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. There, he met the love of his life, Charlotte Jean Lock. Billy Charles and Charlotte were married on February 22, 1953. After graduation, the newlyweds took their first teaching jobs in Van Horn, Texas, where Billy Charles taught high school sciences and was an assistant coach. Throughout his thirty-nine-year career, Billy Charles taught biology, chemistry, and physics at both the high school and college levels across West and Central Texas.

Billy Charles and Charlotte had five children – Bill Dudley (wife Camille) New Braunfels, Wayne (wife Glenda) Harper, Mitch (wife Sherri) Kerrville, Scott (wife Clair) San Angelo, and Adotia Rode (husband Michael deceased) Kerrville. There are twelve grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. Billy Charles was preceded in death by his parents Wanda and Bill Mikeska, and his beloved wife, Charlotte.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 2, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

The graveside service was held at Gooch Cemetery in Mason at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either Resurrection Lutheran Church (Fredericksburg) or Peterson Hospice (Kerrville).
