Margaret Castro

Margaret Castro

Margaret C. Montez, born February 24, 1934, was a beautiful Lady who had a very strong faith and love in God as well as her devotion to the Our Lady of Guadalupe.

She left this world of ours and was received into Heaven on Saturday morning, January 3, 2026, at the age of 91 at the facility of Avir at Kingsland Hills Care Center in Kingsland, Texas. Mom was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, “Lita” (grandma) and a great grandmother.

Maggie’s life was cen- around God, family and friends. She was a hard-working person and gave a helping hand to those who would ask. Her family was small but STRONG. She also had an extended family that went beyond blood relationship.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Santos Montez from Mason, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose M. Castro, Sr. and his wife Felipa Torres Saiz, her brother Ben Castro (Pauline wife), Feliciano Castro (Alfreda wife), Joe Castro, Jr. (Alicia wife), Raymond Castro (Louisa wife) and Marcelino Castro as well as her sisters Rosa Herrera (Margarito husband) and Janie Rabb (John husband).

She is survived by her brother Roy Castro of Burnet, Texas as well as her only child, Rosie Montez Robinett (Keith husband), her grandson Nathan Robinett (Lisa wife) and her great grandsons Lucas and Hunter Robinett. When her grandson was young he couldn’t say Abuelita so he called her “Lita”. He called his grandfather “Lito”. Perfect!

Maggie’s hobbies included: working in the yard and gardening, playing with her dog Princess who stayed at her side after Santos passed away. The furry companion stayed by her side until her passing few years later. She also worked at Bill’s Dollar Store and the Thrift Store with her friend Gene Donop.

She finally retired and had a wonderful life. On June 14, 2021 she went to live at the Kingsland Hills Care Center after an accident. She loved living there and made a lot of friends and was very happy. She enjoyed doing crafts, paint, birthday parties but her favorite was B-I-N-G-O! She couldn’t wait for Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for the games. She was called BINGO MAMA!

She always had a smile for me! I will miss my Mama tremendously but she is in Heaven with her husband, my dad, Santos. She is also finally getting to meet his parents, Candida Montez and Jacinto Montez who unfortunately passed away when Santos was about 10 years old.

GOD BLESS you, MAMA! You will always be in my heart along with DAD!
