Robert (Bob) David Johnson

Robert David Johnson (Bob) of Mason, went home into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 1, 2026.

Bob was bom on February 7, 1961, to parents, Robert Roy and Virginia Louise (Godfimon) Johnson, in Southgate, California; but as he liked to say, “I got to Texas as fast as I could, to find my bride, Stacy Lynn (Pitts) Johnson.” They married on January 20, 2000.

Bob grew up in East Los Angeles, with brother Curtis Henry Johnson and sister Virginia Lynn Johnson Life wasn’t easy for them; however, he always persevered through it. God had a calling on him from the very beginning. He met Jesus as a young adult, but the world kept pulling on him. Even though he struggled to stay the path the gift to share the gospel was always in him.

In 1999 Bob rededicated his life along with his wife, Stacy. They almost immediately jumped onto ministry. God used them together as a team in children’s ministry, pastoral care, street ministry and leading life groups. Bob had a passion for sharing Jesus with whoever would listen.

Bob enjoyed life to the fullest. As a young man he would take off on foot all over the U.S., viewing and enjoying God’s creation. Bob loved to read westerns, Louis L’Amour, but also would read the thesaurus. He definitely had a large vocabulary.

He was one to research and was always up to a good “debate”. Many can attest to that.

Bob loved children, and it seems they loved him too. He spent hours singing silly, and sad songs to them. He was quite a joker also. He always had a joke ready, even in his final days. He set his mind to living in the solution and joy of life, while encouraging others to do likewise.

Together Bob and Stacy raised four grandchildren. They had many camping adventures with close friends they call family. Many hours of playing games, scavenger hunts, and just loving one another.

Bob is survived by his wife Stacy Johnson, sister Lynn Johnson (Deb), of California, brother in law Joseph Perry of Mason, Texas, children, son Gabriel Johnson of Corpus Christi, Texas, daughter Brandi Velasquez (Rusty) of Brady, Texas, son Robert Velasquez (Judith) of Sandia,Texas, nine grandchildren Katie, Savannah, Jazlyne, Stachia, Andrew, Orion, Ever, Atlas, Sarah and eight great grandchildren Tobias, Xander, Emma, Aleyda, Valencia, Jaxon, Sihtric, Damian, and one on the way. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother Curtis Henry Johnson.
