Neal Akridge

NealAkridge, 91 of Temple passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2025 in Horseshoe Bay.

He was born July 28, 1934, a true Texan, to Albert Akridge and Elinor Akridge. He graduated from The University of Texas-Austin, “Hook ‘em Horns,” with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He immediately joined the U.S. Navy and served for six years as a fighter pilot. Neal had a lengthy career in the high tech industry, mainly in the Dallas area, including TI, before retiring to Horseshoe Bay in the early 1990s.

Neal grew up with a love for playing tennis and snow skiing in Colorado. He was an avid fan for the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by her loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Akridge (Ripka). They filled their home with loving four legged children. They both have a love for their Schnauzers. He is also survived by two brothers, James Akridge, his wife Judy, and Wayne; as well as two sisters, Roylinn Harris, and Ann Van Volkenburgh and her husband Bill.

A celebration of Neal’s life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. at The Church of Horseshoe Bay to share memories, condolences with Barbara and family, and enjoy refreshments.

His love for his wife was unwavering. Something we all can take and continue loving others. He will be greatly missed.
