Joan Eloise Guinn

Joan Eloise Guinn, age 81, passed away on October 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Mason, Texas. Eloise was born on June 18, 1944, in Brownwood, Texas, the daughter of Ellsworth Elmo Fourmy and Sammie Ruth Johnson Fourmy. She grew up in El Paso and attended Bel Air High School, where she was Football Queen in 1959, Miss Bel Air in 1960, a cheerleader, and a member of Student Council, Tartan Troupe drama club, Future Homemakers of America, and Glee Club. In 1966, she joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, El Paso Branch, as a collection messenger in the Transit Department. After years of hard work and determination, working in multiple jobs with the bank, she became the first female officer of the El Paso Branch in 1990. In 2004, she retired from the bank and her position as Assistant Vice President, and retired to Aztec, New Mexico. In 2020, she moved to Midland, Texas. In 2023, she moved to Mason, and her dream to live in the Texas Hill Country became a reality.

Eloise married Richard “Zeke” Haley in 1960, and this marriage ended in divorce. She married Patrick Guinn in 1971, and this marriage ended with his death. She was also predeceased her parents, her longtime companion, Leland Rowe, and her much-loved grandson, Austin Thomas.

She is survived by her sister, Merle Fourmy Golucke; daughters Nannette Velasquez, Shannon Haley, Amoret Guinn, and Ginny Guinn Parsons (Frank); 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two nieces, and a grandniece and grandnephew. Also, by Claudia Labrado, a best friend since age five, and an extended family member, Maria “Chita” Silva.

A celebration of life and burial are planned for April 2026 in Fredericksburg, Texas.
