He is preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Lily Sanders; his beloved wife, Eddie Sanders; and his son, LeRoy Sanders.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jerry Sanders and wife Sophie of Mason, Texas, and Carl Sanders of Lago Vista, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ashley Velez and husband Jacob of Mason, Heather Wyatt and husband John of Christoval, Dakota Eckert of Brady, Taylor Meador of Brady, John Sanders of Lago Vista, and Amber Sanders of Kyle. His legacy continues through 15 great-grandchildren—Jadin Sanders, Bryant, John & William Bates, Trynt Airheart, Kaitlyn & Kyson Wyatt, Kaydence, Landon & Tatum Eckert, Abigail Rodriguez, Tanner Willis, River Duenez, and Lydia Martinez—and his great-great-great grandson, Bentley Bates.

A proud Army veteran, Howard faithfully served his country. He found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life—working on the ranch, hunting, fishing, and enjoying a good barbecue surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.

Howard will be remembered for his strength, devotion, and the many traditions he passed down to the generations that follow him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.

Visitation with the family was Thursday, August 21 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral service was Friday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with interment that followed at Gooch Cemetery.
