David Lloyd Henderson

Lloyd “Papa” Henderson was born on Aug. 29, 1931 to William David Henderson and Mable Jane Henderson in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Lloyd met the love his life, Jean Ellen Blackwell, in Midland, and they married on Sept. 25, 1950. The two were married for 72 years, raising four children, and bringing lasting light to everyone they met. Jean went to be with the Lord on Aug. 1, 2023 and Lloyd could not wait to join her in eternity with their Savior.
Lloyd grew up in Midland and graduated from Texas Western University before working as a geologist for several oil companies in Kansas, Kentucky, Colorado and Texas, eventually finishing up his career as an independent geologist. Lloyd was an avid tennis player and played golf regularly into his early 80s. Lloyd was known for his generosity and for his love of visiting with family and friends. His love of Christ was evident in his words and actions, and his family has full confidence that he was welcomed into Heaven with open arms.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, and in 2006, his youngest son, Don Henderson.
Lloyd is survived by his brother Don Henderson of Erie, Colorado; daughter Debra Henderson of Oklahoma City; son David Henderson of Austin; son Mark and Suzi Henderson of Austin; and daughterin- law Patti Henderson of Spicewood.
Lloyd and Jean were blessed with 16 grandchildren: Ty and Lori McGee of Fullerton, California; James Henderson of Houston; Sam and Stephanie McGee of Oklahoma City; Sam and Chesley Wilmarth of Santa Rosa, California; M’Lea McGee of Maxwell, Texas; Susanna Dollar of Granite Shoals; Cory and
