Tempie Estelle Boyd Neuman

Tempie Estelle Boyd Neuman

Tempie Estelle Boyd Neuman, a longtime resident of Blanco, was called home on Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2025, at L.B.J. Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1934 in Gillette, Texas to Arthur and Tempie Corine Dromgoole Boyd. She attended a small, one-room schoolhouse there until the family moved to Sealy. She was an honor graduate of Sealy High School in 1951. Soon after graduation, she married Bill Neuman Sr. of Brookshire on Aug. 9 and they made their home in Brazoria for a number of years.

In 1953, they started their family with the birth of their only son, followed by three daughters. The family moved to Weimar for most of the 1960s. After a few moves by the company Bill worked for, they moved to Blanco, where their two youngest daughters graduated high school. Bill was transferred again for his job, and they moved to Sealy so he could work for Coastal Ag. After Bill’s death in 1985, Tempie returned to Blanco for the remainder of her life.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in helping with the Sunday school classes. In the late 1990s, she retired after working at the local Radio Shack, and many years at Strickland Drug Store (now Blanco Pharmacy & Wellness). After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, going to their school events and extracurricular activities, traveling with her daughter, son-in-law and their children, and then enjoying her great-grandchildren.

Tempie was proceeded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her infant brother, and her older brother, Ray Boyd. She is survived by her children, son, Billy Neuman of Gonzales; daughter, Cindy Neuman Scheffel and husband Mike of Blanco; daughter, Kelly Neuman Moore and husband Dennis Sr. of Blanco, and daughter, Rebecca Neuman Janota and husband David of Gonzales. Eight grandchildren: Josh Neuman of Hockley; Blake Petrek, Gretchen Muelker Hil, and Garrett Muelker, all of Gonzales; Dennis “Bubba” Moore Jr. and wife Aubrey of Blanco; Amanda Moore Smith and husband Michael of Blanco; Kaleigh Janota Walker and husband Micah of Mineola; and Tyler Janota and wife Karli of Seguin. She also is survived by her twelve great-grandchildren: Jordyn, Ethan, Raegan, Ryleigh, Trent, Avery, Kamille, Woodrow, Blayden, Jamesley, Gracelyn and Griffinn; and her faithful fur companion, Honey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home. A funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m. at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home. A graveside service follow at the Blanco Cemetery; then please join the family at the Buggy Barn Museum Event Center for reception.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Methodist Hospice & Family Care Hill Country in Fredericksburg.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Blanco EMS and Fire Department for their quick response, the emergency staff at Hill Country Memorial Hospital, the staff and hospice nurses/aides of LBJ Medical Nursing Center. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation for all the prayers, calls, cards, flowers and visits.
