Robert “Bob” Summers
Robert “Bob” Summers

Bob was born on July 28, 1939, in San Antonio, to Robert Raymond Summers and Mary Virginia Barnes. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1957, and later from the University of Texas with his bachelor's degree.
While studying at the University of Texas, he met and fell in love with Carol King Summers. They married in April of 1964.
He pursued a law degree at the University of Houston and graduated in 1967.
Shortly thereafter, they moved to San Antonio where Bob partnered with Robert Thornton to start Thorton & Summers Law Firm which eventually grew to over 50 lawyers working in Austin, San Antonio and the Valley.
Bob and Carol had two daughters, Catherine and Stacey. They devoted their lives to loving their family and nurturing relationships with extended family and friends at their ranch at the base of Enchanted Rock.
In 2011, Carol passed away from pancreatic cancer. She was the love of his life for over 50 years. Bob married Allana Hurta on May 26, 2012 and they shared eight healthy years together before Bob's battle with lymphoma began and Allana passed away. Faced with these health issues, Bob sold his Enchanted Rock ranch and eventually moved to town in Fredericksburg. However, he loved the country too much. In 2021, Bob purchased a ranch in Bluffton, Texas and shortly thereafter found love again when he met Dorothy Doose. They shared several joyful years together and enjoyed life at the ranch and traveling. They married on December 29, 2024 and with love and devotion Dorothy carefully attended to Bob during his last months of life.
Bob was a skilled horseman, cooked great brisket and ribs, enjoyed a good Coors Light, never missed a Longhorns football game, and could win any case that went to court. But most of all, he loved God and his family. He was vocal about the assurance of salvation that he had through his faith in Jesus Christ to the end.
Although his impact is inestimable, Bob Summers is respected and remembered for his deep love for his family, his optimism and perseverance, his brilliant mind, and his love for the Texas Hill Country.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Raymond Summers and Mary Virginia Barnes and his sister Mary Louise Hearn. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Doose Summers; daughter, Catherine Summers Mills of Fredericksburg and husband, Scott; daughter, Stacey Summers O'Quinn of Boerne and husband, Ryan; and his grandchildren, Michael Hayes O'Quinn and John Robert O'Quinn.
