A powerful line of severe thunderstorms tore through the Texas Hill Country and Central Texas on Thursday evening, unleashing baseball-sized hail, damaging winds, and torrential rain that led to widespread destruction and power outages across multiple counties.
The first wave of storms hit Mason and Llano Counties, bringing heavy rain and intense hail. In Gillespie County, the community of Stonewall endured baseball-sized hail that damaged vehicles, roofs, and trees.
In Hays and Caldwell Counties, the storms grew more violent. San Marcos saw wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, strong enough to flip aircraft at the regional airport. Residents in Martindale, Maxwell, and eastern parts of Kyle reported shattered windows and sunroofs from hail. The same hail battered neighborhoods in Uhland, Niederwald, and Mustang Ridge, leaving significant damage behind.
