Blanco City Officials Sworn In at May 13 Meeting

A swearing in for city officials was held at the May 13 Blanco City Council meeting.

The canvassing of the May 3 election results regarding the bond election was the first order of business. Proposition A, the issuance of $4,411,843 for street improvements, passed with 220 votes in favor and 66 opposed. Proposition B, the issuance of $12,224,157 for water and wastewater improvements, passed with 223 in favor and 63 opposed.

Candy Cargill, Rodney Thrailkill and David Behrends Jr. were sworn in by outgoing Mayor Mike Arnold to their respective offices. Cargill won the mayor’s race over Jim Reed by a 227 to 61 margin. In the race for two council seats, Thrailkill won with 108 votes and Behrends Jr. won with 107 votes among the seven candidates in the race.
