The Blanco County Commissioners approved a drop off calendar for those who wish to request Hotel Occupancy Tax funds from the county at their May 13 meeting.
They approved drop-off deadlines of Feb. 1 and July 1 of each year. The commissioners will consider the requests at the last meeting of February and July.
The county’s request to the state legislature to create HOT funds was approved in October 2023, and the commissioners approved it that November. The tax went into effect April 1, 2024. Since that time, the county has collected the 7 percent HOT on hotels in the county which are not in the city limits of Blanco and Johnson City, since those entities already collect the tax.
