The Johnson City baseball team advanced to the third round of the postseason with a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three area round series win against Mumford.
The Eagles won 2-1 on May 8 and 10-2 on May 9 in Jarrell to advance to the regional round of the playoffs.
The Eagles have now advanced to the third round of the playoffs for the fifth straight year. They have been a tough opponent to play offense against, with Johnson City pitching allowing just three runs so far in the playoffs. Offensively, Johnson City scored just enough to beat Rosebud- Lott and Mumford in game one, but broke out for 10 runs in game two to eliminate Mumford. The Eagles will face Schulenburg next, but for head coach Rhett Eickenloff, it is important to look back at what the team has accomplished already this season.
