Firefighters are continuing to battle the Reverse Fire, a grassfire burning near Harper in Gillespie County. As of Wednesday evening, the blaze has consumed approximately 79 acres and is 80% contained. 55% containment had been achieved earlier in the afternoon. The fire ignited around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday near East Grand Oaks Drive, allegedly sparked from a nearby brush burn. It was fueled by thick cedar trees and piles of dead vegetation, spreading eastward along U.S. 290 and Reeh-Weinheimer Road.

Multiple fire crews from surrounding counties, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, are working to establish containment lines. Aerial resources, including drones and helicopters, are being utilized to combat spot fires and monitor the fire's progression. Despite the challenging conditions, no structures are currently threatened, and there are no road closures reported.

The region is experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures reaching up to 104°F, and is under an Extreme Heat Warning until 9:00 PM CDT. These conditions, combined with ongoing drought, have elevated the fire risk in the area.
