Mason High School Teachers Receive Texas A&M Rural Health Award

In a school assembly on Monday, April 28, 2025, representatives from the Texas A&M University College of Medicine Rural Medicine Program honored two Mason ISD teachers. Angie Dudney and Kaleigh Walker received the Heart for Healthcare Incentive Award. The privately funded initiative recognizes dedicated teachers who are passionate about sharing health care career opportunities with their students.

Teachers in two Texas school districts received the award this year.

The Mason program be-Initiative, which seeks to increase the number of medical school graduates seeking a career in rural areas. During the first year, MHS students attended mini-med camp. A handful of students traveled to College Station with teachers Walker and Dudney to stay in the dormitories, attend lectures and get hands-on experience.
