The Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center (HCCAC) hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration on Wednesday, April 23 to commemorate the opening of their new full-service facility.
Located next door to the current facility at Hill Street and FM 963 in Burnet, the new building is designed to meet the growing needs of the HCCAC.
The HCCAC provides life-changing services to children and families victimized by child abuse in Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano and San Saba counties. The new building project marks a significant milestone for the HCCAC, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and healing to child abuse victims and their families since 1992. Several years ago, leaders of the organization reflected on the growth of their service numbers, as well as the projected growth of the Center’s service area, and spearheaded an effort to understand what it would take to meet the future needs of the community and staff. Their planning and foresight resulted in being awarded a $4.98 million grant by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to construct a new 9,000-square-foot building. Facilitated by the City of Burnet, the TDHCA Community Development Block Grant/Community Resiliency Program targets projects serving low-and-moderate income areas, as well as rural and small metro communities, to improve access to social services and healthcare.
