Johnson City defeated Harper 6-0 on April 22 and 10-3 on April 25 to sweep the district competition and claim the district championship. The Eagles finished the regular season 12-0 in district play as they prepare for the playoffs, which start this week.

The Eagles are ranked number one in the state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches among Class 2A baseball teams. Johnson City’s next test will be on May 2 against Rosebud-Lott in the first round of the playoffs, which head coach Rhett Eickenloff has prepped his team for all season. The game will be played in Jarrell.

“When we’re swinging it and when we’re hitting, I’ll go up against anybody, 1A through 6A,” Eickenloff said. “These guys, they’re getting to where they need at this point in the season, and we’re ready to go get Rosebud on Friday.”
