Horseshoe Bay Property Owners’ Association Treasurer Belinda Roberts gave an in depth review and analysis of the POA’s revenue and expenses at yesterday’s board meeting at Quail Point Lodge. Throughout her presentation, she pointed out that certain items such as grounds upkeep charges and responsibility for the lighthouse would change as the settlement agreement is implemented between the POA and Resort. Roberts said the settlement would result in a “netting out” of payments from and to the Maintenance Fund, to eliminate the Resort paying the POA for certain items, and the POA paying the Resort for other items.
Last year, the POA filed suit against four Resort related entities and the Maintenance Fund. In March of this year, the POA announced that the parties to the lawsuit had signed a settlement agreement. This is the document Roberts referred to in her treasurer’s update to the board.
Casual requests by this reporter to see a copy of the settlement agreement were denied by both sides. Therefore, this reporter, as a longtime member of the POA, followed the POA’s formal requirement to send a letter via certified mail to the POA in order to obtain a copy of the settlement agreement. The POA acknowledged receipt of the certified mail request on April 7 and said it would respond within 10 business days.
