Blanco Relay Team and Three Athletes Qualify for Regional Track Meet
The 2025 UIL Region 1 Track and Field qualifiers for Blanco are, from left, Jacob Johnson, Hank Jones, Sidney Johnson, Cason Ricke, Gretschen Grosch, Brodrick Siwecki and Cody Waltrip. Johnson, Jones, Siwecki and Waltrip will run the 4x100 meter relay at regional. The foursome set a new BHS record, 43.21, April 9, breaking the previous record set in 2014. Siwecki will also run in the 100 meter dash at regional. Although not running in the 200 meter at regional, Siwecki broke the previous BHS 200 meter record at district April 2 with 22.42. Kayden Petitt set the previous record of 22.91 in 2023. Ricke is the alternate for the relay team. Johnson will compete in the long jump and triple jump. Grosch will run in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. The regional meet is at Abilene starting Thursday, April 17. (Photo by Diana Schwind)
