The Blanco County Commissioners put a burn ban on at their meeting Tuesday after a short reprieve of just over 24 hours.
The burn ban that was in place was lifted at 9:45 a.m. Monday by County Judge Brett Bray. He said the ban was lifted due to “moist conditions in the area” and after he received feedback that people needed to burn. The fire marshal was also consulted prior to the decision to lift the burn ban. Bray said another reason he lifted the ban was that he knew the commissioners would take up the topic at their meeting Tuesday morning.
The commissioners discussed a legal mechanism to temporarily lift a burn ban. Blanco County Fire Marshal Matt McMain said that Comal County, for example, has lifted its burn ban for 24-48 hours. He’s currently researching how that could be done at times in Blanco County.
