March 2, 2026 brought council to session recognizing Sam Christopher and Otto Rusche for 10 years of service.
A lengthy discussion initiated by Alderman Kara Gilliland with open participation from numerous citizens and County Commissioner Jerry Don Moss opened the next round of water discussions. Gilliland presented both ownership and control of public water resources throughout Texas, including the Llano River, clarifying that the water flowing in the Llano River is owned by the State of Texas not the City. She went on to say that for the City to increase our water capacity beyond the existing, permitted, 700 acre feet we will need a Firm Water Contract with LCRA as required by TCEQ and state water laws.
Next steps will be open discussion with City officials, council, and City water attorneys and engineers to present options and answer questions. This event is still in the planning stage. Gilliland offered to meet with citizens privately or publicly. She can be reached at [email protected] or via cell at 512-971-9949.
