Blanco ISD board continues search for new superintendent

The Blanco Independent School Board continues the search for a new superintendent.

Attendees at the Feb. 23 meeting were told of the next steps in the search process to find a replacement for Clay Rosenbaum, who will retire this summer. Community meetings were held Feb. 24 and the board will view applications March 9. After the interview process, which spans March and April, a special meeting will be held to vote to hire the next superintendent on May 6.

The informational portion of the meeting focused on the results of the district on the Texas Academic Performance Report. The report gathers information on students in schools and districts throughout Texas and provides data including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Blanco ISD’s district accountability score for the 2024-25 school year was a “B.” A snapshot of the district shows that 44% of students are economically disadvantaged, 30.6% are “at risk,” and 17.3% are in special education. Assistant Superintendent Brad Kinney reviewed the data with the trustees and took questions. Principals from the campuses discussed strategies they use to assess students’ performance throughout the school year. The full TAPR data can be viewed on the school district’s website.
