The Blanco County Commissioners received information about the Texas Department of Transportation’s Rural Transportation Improvement Program at their meeting Tuesday.
A TxDOT representative shared information about the Rural TIP program for 20272030 for rural counties in the Austin district. Rural counties in the district include Blanco, Gillespie, Lee, Llano and Mason. Travis, Hays, Williamson, Burnet, Bastrop and Caldwell counties are also in the district, but not eligible for the program. Possible projects included in the draft plan show a regional agreement on the need of the project.
Safety is the focus of the program and projects include road expansions, sidewalks, bike lanes, pavement repair or maintenance, new or improved signals and turning lanes. According to TxDOT, projects are selected based on current conditions and projections, statewide and regional plans, and public input about transportation priorities.
