Drought conditions have worsened recently across Texas while it continues to envelop Blanco County.
There is drought present in 98.69 percent of Texas, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor issued last Thursday. Drought has increased more than 20 percent statewide since the beginning of December to now. Only 75.64 percent of Texas was in some form of drought in the Dec. 2, 2025 monitor. That figure climbed to 79.96 percent in the final drought monitor of 2025 and jumped to 88.34 percent in the first drought monitor of 2026. Since that time, the percentage of the state has slowly risen from 91.15 in the Jan. 13 monitor to a high of 98.69 percent last week.
All of Blanco County has been in some form of drought since mid-October of last year. Less than half of the county, 48.72 percent, was in some form of drought in the Oct. 7, 2025 monitor. A week later, the entire county moved into some form of drought and has remained in drought conditions since that time.
