EMS Partnership Between City and County Will Save Lives

EMS Partnership Between City and County Will Save Lives
Mason has two ambulances that are fully equipped to provide ICU-level care to patients on the way to the hospital. Now that the City and County have partnered to cover the cost, both ambulances can be out on calls at the same time.

Good news for anyone in need of an ambulance in Mason County. Beginning February 1, Mason EMS has the capacity to send out two fully equipped and staffed vehicles at once.

While Mason has had two fully equipped vehicles for about four years, they have not had the funds to staff the EMS and run both trucks at once, called a second-out call.

If one ambulance is out on a call, the additional call was deferred to another county and the person in need had to wait. Having two ambulances meant that they could save the time it takes to prep the inside of the truck between calls by swapping out vehicles quickly, but they did not have the staff to respond to simultaneous calls.
