Bonnett Signs with Howard Payne

Mason High School senior Colton Bonnett recently made his commitment to Howard Payne University official when he signed his National Letter of Intent.

“I picked Howard Payne because it's closest to home — it’s an hour down the road for my family — and it's easier for them to come and watch. That was the main deciding factor,” he said. “And the second reason was because when I went on my visit, the coaches there seemed so genuine and being a Christian school – that’s a big thing for me as we are a religious family. It just felt like home, it felt natural. The interactions I had with the coaches, it felt like I had already been there before, like I had known these guys for a very long time.”

Bonnett was part of a three-headed offensive juggernaut in the Punchers’ rushing attack, which compelled Howard Payne coaches to sign him at that position though they did tell him “it just depends when we get there.” He knows they’ll also try him on defense.
