The Johnson City girls basketball team was eliminated from playoff contention after a 47-33 loss to Harper on Feb. 3 and a 6530 loss to Mason on Feb. 6.
The Lady Eagles (4-7) can finish the season at-best 5-7 in the district, while fourthplace Harper can finish no worse than 6-6, clinching a playoff berth and eliminating Johnson City. While unable to continue the playoff streak under head coach Chris Schlicke, the team still looks to get everything it can out of this season. “Our playoffs were done after the Harper game, but I told (our team) that that doesn’t matter,” Schlicke said. “We have a lot to play for in this program with how young we are. It’s about taking that next step.”
The second meeting between Johnson City and Harper was similar to the first meeting on Jan. 9, when Harper won 38-32. This time around, however, Harper improved offensively and was able to pull away further as it all but wrapped up its spot in the playoffs with the 47-33 win.
