March 3 Primary Will Determine Next Mason County Judge

March 3 Primary Will Determine Next Mason County Judge

Mason County Republicans gathered Monday evening, February 9, to hear from candidates on the March 3 primary ballot. Most are incumbents running unopposed, including District Judge Rob Hofmann, District Attorney Tonya Spaeth Ahlschwede, Justice of the Peace Treg Hudson, County Republican Chair Wanda Rueffler, Precinct 4 Commissioner Dave Underwood and Precinct 2 Commissioner Fred Estes.

Voters will choose between two Republican candidates for Mason County Judge: Shannon Grote Worrell and Garrett Allen. Regardless of your party affiliation, March 3 is the only date voters can choose which of those two will be the next Mason County Judge.

Current Mason County Judge Sheree Hardin announced on September 3, 2025, that she would not seek reelection after one term. The previous Judge, Judge Bearden, served for two decades and was succeeded by Hardin, a member of his staff. There has been continuity in the office of County Judge for nearly a quarter century, so this election is pivotal.
