‘Emma Express’ helps save lives through animal rescue

‘Emma Express’ helps save lives through animal rescue
Fire Plug Freeway board member Lynn Bishop and JoAnn Robertson load up Roo and Oreo for their transport to their forever homes.

Rescue is about second chances and full hearts! Thank you, Emma, as your legacy of love has made a difference.

365 Pet Connection gives its heartfelt thanks to Bill and Elaine Lancaster for sponsoring the “Emma Express” in memory of their beloved dog, Emma. Their contribution enabled 13 dogs and puppies to travel to rescue partners in the Pacific Northwest, where they were immediately welcomed into the loving arms of their foster families. Two of the dogs, Roo and Tigger, came to 365 Pet Connection from the recent hoarding case in Llano, and Oreo was one of Hazel's big puppies raised by JoAnn and Mike Robertson. You may have met these pups at Holidaze or at Ace Hardware events.

This past November, Fireplug Freeway held a benefit where the Lancasters, along with many animal-loving people, funded rescue transports to safety. Fireplug Freeway takes at-risk dogs and puppies out of area shelters, due to overcrowding, and transports them to safe, loving homes. Due to a generous donor, 365 Pet Connection was able to purchase and outfit its own rescue van and named the operation Fireplug Freeway. The first rescue transport was in July 2024, and 134 dogs and puppies have been a part of the Fireplug Freeway to safety.
