On Monday night, the board of the Mason Independent School District (MISD) voted unanimously to adopt an order of a school bond election, calling for up to $35 million dollars, to build a new Mason High School and gym.
The bond will be on the May 2 election ballot, along with two at-large school board positions. Early voting will take place at the St. Paul Lutheran Church fellowship hall, at 124 Moody Street, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays April 20 through April 28. Mail-in ballots must be received by 7:00 p.m. on May 2. The board approved the order of the school board election, as well as the notice of a trustee election.
Plans for the new construction include keeping the gym, band hall and cafeteria, and building a new competition gym and other school facilities adjacent to the current buildings, said Superintendent Sean Leamon. Students would remain in the current buildings until the new construction is complete.
