Carleigh Dotson, the Lions Club’s District 2-3 Diabetes Awareness Essay winner, was recognized Jan. 10 when she presented her award-winning paper at the Texas Lions Midwinter Meeting in Kyle.
Dotson, a Blanco High School senior who was sponsored by the Blanco Lions Club, highlighted the importance of diabetes education, prevention and community support, earning praise from Lions Club members from central Texas. She will now compete at the Texas state level this May. Dotson’s essay stood out among submissions from throughout District 2-3 for its insight into the impact diabetes has on individuals and families. She confidently shared her essay before an audience of Lions leaders and members. District leaders noted that her work reflects the Lions’ long-standing commitment to diabetes awareness and youth engagement.
