Filing is underway for three positions on the Blanco City Council.
Filing began mid-January for seats currently held by Bobby Mack-McClung, Dennis Moore Jr. and Ryan Moses. Mack-McClung and Moore were each elected to a two-year term in 2024. Moses was appointed to fill the final year of Mayor Candy Cargill’s city council term when she was elected as mayor last May. Cargill was elected to the city council in 2024. Moses was elected to the city council in 2023 and was on the ballot for re-election last May but fell just short. Rodney Thrailkill, with 108 votes, and David Behrends Jr., with 107 votes, were elected to the council in that election. Moses received 104 votes, while none of the other candidates received more than 60 votes. The council selected Moses to fill the remaining year on Cargill’s city council seat after she was sworn in as mayor.
Candidates were able to file for office starting Jan. 14 and the filing runs through Feb. 13. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Feb. 13.
