Following a brief introduction by HSB Sports Club President Rick Strasser, Coach David Bailiff immediately connected with his HSB audience. “I went into coaching 42 years ago to see the world from New York to California, but spent my whole career in Texas - except a brief time in New Mexico with Rudy Davalos.”
He recalled, “They hired Rudy to be the athletic director. I knew the legend of Rudy Davalos because he went to Southwest Texas, but he didn’t know who I was.
My phone rang and the voice said, 'Bailiff, this is Rudy Davalos. Get your ass in my office.' I was thinking, 'O'my'gosh what have I done?' I walked in his office and he said, ‘Sit your ass down.’”
