The Blanco boys and girls powerlifting teams competed in their first meet of the season at Pieper High School last Saturday.
The lifters for the boys team included Donovan Hector, Kaden Elrod, Carlos Perez, Hunter Rodriguez, Roger Barrera, Kyson Millard and Ulysses Hernandez. Hector won first place in his weight class with a total lift of 1570 pounds. He lifted 600 on squat, 470 on bench press and 500 on deadlift. Elrod finished second in his weight class with a total lift of 1535 pounds, and Perez placed second in his division with a total lift of 1110. Barrera finished third in his weight class with a total lift of 1280 pounds, while Rodriguez placed fourth with a total lift of 1145, Millard lifted a total of 1085 pounds and Hernandez lifted a total of 750 pounds.
The lifters for the girls team included Isabella Carbo, Addilynn Stevenson, Sofia Jimenez and Emma Ledesma. Carbo won fourth in her division with a total lift of 540 pounds. Jimenez lifted a total of 590 pounds, Stevenson lifted 535 pounds and Ledesma lifted 450 pounds.
