State Rep. Virdell adds to voices questioning Oncor-LCRA transmission line

State Rep. Virdell adds to voices questioning Oncor-LCRA transmission line

If a person types the words “Bell County East-Big Hill 765 kV Transmission Line” into an internet search engine, among the pages of results will be news reports on the proposed 200-mile powerline, attorneys advertising their services to head off eminent domain related to the project, resolutions from county commissioners courts (including Llano and Burnet) outlining their opposition, and advice for citizens from an array of organizations about formally voicing disapproval.

The major transmission line is being proposed by Oncor and LCRA TSC (Lower Colorado River Authority Transmission Services Corporation).

The most recent state leader to add to the chorus of disapproval is Rep. Wes Virdell, a Republican who represents District 53 that includes Llano County. The project area transects 14 Texas counties: Llano, Mason, San Saba, Schleicher, Tom Green, Menard, Concho, McCulloch, Burnet, Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, Milam and Williamson. Five of those counties are within Virdell’s District 53.
