Fire Marshal Says Blanco County Fires May Have Been Intentionally Set

Blanco County Fire Marshal Matt McMain said in a press release last week that vegetation fires in southwestern Blanco County may have been set intentionally.

“Initial investigations by responding personnel and the Blanco County fire marshal’s office show signs that these fires may have been set intentionally,” the press release stated. “This is an active investigation and if you see any suspicious activity, please immediately contact 911.”

An update was not available as of Tuesday morning. Blanco County remains under a burn ban through noon on Jan. 13. The county commissioners could vote to extend the burn ban at their meeting that morning or could allow it to expire.
