Callie Ann Alex was recently named city secretary for Blanco and has hit the ground running.
Alex laughingly recounted how her prior job was nearly the exact opposite of her role at the City of Blanco. She was previously “number two in the building at Army South for Operation Security.” That means her job was to lock down information, rather than disseminate it. The first week she was on the job in Blanco, the biggest culture shock was posting of the city council agenda for everyone to see.
The new city secretary said she enjoys the small team environment in the office. One new thing, however, has been picking out clothes, since she has worn a military uniform for many years. Alex commutes from Bulverde each day to city hall, which is a welcome change from previously having to drive into San Antonio.
