Llano Man Charged After Shooting on West Leon

Matthew James Cooper, 39, of Llano has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, following a shooting incident reported to local law enforcement on December 5.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to the 100 block of West Leon Street, where they located the victim, identified as Cody Dwayne Perry, 37, also of Llano, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Perry was transported by helicopter to receive further medical treatment. He was released from the hospital in stable condition on December 11.

Cooper was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on a $75,000 bond. The case remains under investigation and will proceed through the district court.
