The Mason High School football team lost to Refugio 27-13 December 4 in the Class 2A Division I state quarterfinals.
The Punchers end their season with a 10-4 overall record, 5-0 in District 14-2A Division I for their 15th consecutive district crown, and reached the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
“Through all of it, they just wanted to get better,” said head coach Wade Griffin, who just finished his first season at the helm. “They did not want to be the group that didn’t win the district championship. They wanted to continue the program on the trajectory that it’s always been on, and they just had a no-quit attitude. And they really played hard when we needed them to the most.”
