The Blanco County Commissioners extended the county-wide burn ban at their meeting Tuesday.
The burn ban, which was set to expire at noon Tuesday, has been extended to noon on Jan. 13, 2026. The burn ban extension allows the use of propane fire pits as an exception to the burn ban. It was not previously listed in the county’s exceptions.
Other exceptions to the burn ban include outdoor welding and other hot work under certain conditions. Those conditions include a spotter for each welder, a perimeter o 25 feet clear of vegetation that is kept wet, a minimum of 100 gallons of water on site and one water pressure fire extinguisher per spotter, wind speeds no more than 15 miles per hour, a humidity index o 20 percent or higher, and a cell phone or other means of communication on site for emergency response. Welding in an enclosed area is also allowed.
