Puncherdome Contract Awarded to Fletco

After 20 months of negotiations with insurance companies, the Mason Independent School District (MISD) has awarded the contract to redo the Puncherdome to Fletco, Superintendent Sean Leamon announced Monday night at the MISD board meeting.

Construction is planned for completion by April or May, the Superintendent said, with the hope of having this spring’s graduation at the Puncherdome. The River of Life gym has been reserved as a backup, he said.

The district continues to work with insurance agents on the work needed on the roofs of the elementary, junior high, high school and ag shop, which sustained $2.3 million in damage, the Superintendent said. He continues to meet with representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which will pay 75 percent of the cost to repair the items it approved.
