This past Saturday morning was the perfect Hill Country Autumn day for an amazingly well organized assembly line of volunteers building wooden bed frames.
This bed build took place in The Church at HSB parking lot. This was the second year the HSB Church sponsored a bed build for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, whose motto is “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”
HSB retirees Jeff Matera and Leo Boutte are the co-presidents of the local chapter, which covers Burnet, Llano and Lampasas counties and the northern half of Blanco County. Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national non-profit with chapters throughout the United States. The website shpbed.org reports delivery of 326,325 beds since its founding. They also report that 154,865 children are waiting for beds right now.
