On Friday, November 7, a Burnet County jury sentenced Milton Escamilla to life in prison after finding him guilty of three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of aggravated kidnapping. Escamilla ambushed and sexually assaulted the victim, his girlfriend’s adult daughter, and held her captive in her home for 15 hours in April 2022. Escamilla had previously been convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child by a Llano County jury and had served several years in prison for that offense. He was on parole when the new charges occurred in 2022.
At trial, the jury heard compelling testimony from the victim, along with her mother and her sister, who were present during the kidnapping. Several law enforcement officers from local agencies assisted with the investigation and trial, including the Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety, Bertram Police Department, Burnet Police Department and Marble Falls Police Department. Officers obtained Google image data from Escamilla and other individuals that was vital to corroborating the victim’s testimony and proving the case.
Assistant District Attorneys Kelly Bazie and Sheri Bloom presented the case to the jury. Escamilla was represented by Mikel Eggert.
