Johnson City defeated Skidmore-Tynan 3-0 on Nov. 4 in Pleasanton but lost to Schulenburg 3-0 on Nov. 6 in Seguin, ending its state championship defense.

The win over Skidmore- Tynan was much closer than the 3-0 score might suggest. The Lady Eagles won with set scores of 25-20, 28-26 and 25-19, creating a much more tense game than the team has had much of the 2025 season. This close game set off some alarms, and head coach Heather Wilson felt that some quick adjustments would have to be made in preparation for the Schulenburg team that had ended its season in two of the last three seasons.

“Not something that we’re going to be happy with, a lot of things that we need to and should have done better,” Wilson said. “Our district is not the strongest district, so when we get to this point, we’re expected to flip that switch, and that’s hard to do.”
